Located in Kachura village, 20 minutes from Skardu city (almost 2,500 m or 8,200 ft) town, Shangrila Lake is a popular tourist destination. The lake was previously known as Lower Kachura Lake. but after a resort was developed on its shore in 1983, it became known as Shangrila Lake, which is the more popular name.
